Just before half-time, Temescal Canyon High School (Lake Elsinore, California), scored on a 57 Yard Field Goal.
Not a typo. 57 yards. I saw the damn thing with my own eyes.
It was like a line drive. Not much air involved that I saw. But it just kept on flying. On a windless night.
I doubt I'll ever see that again.
Edit: Here's the article in the local paper.

I don't think I've ever seen a high school field goal that's gone more than 45 yards. Impressive.
ReplyDeleteHigh school field goals that go 35 yards are pretty uncommon, at least where I grew up. 57 yards is incredible.
ReplyDeleteCan you say 'free ride' to Southern Cal
ReplyDeleteThat is remarkable, longest field goal I ever heard of while I was in high school was a 44 yard one. If the kid keeps his mind right, he could be going places.
