Lemme tell you what you can do with your S.I. jinx

This issue of Sports Illustrated hit the stands on June 29. As is custom amongst those who lack sports acuity, there were shrieks of "S.I. jinx" from alleged Twins fans. I heard such ludicrous declarations of how Mauer's dream start (.386, 14 home runs and 43 RBI as of June 29) would turn into the proverbial nightmare as a result.

So how has Mauer fared since the end of June? How about a .366 batting average with 13 homers and 43 RBIs over the past 2-1/2 months? After tonight's game, he is hitting .373 overall and has a 19 point lead in the American League batting race.
