  1. Not Terdell Middleton. Eddie Lee Ivery.

  2. I wasn't even a little bit impressed by Rodgers today. His numbers look pretty good, but his presence was lacking. I'm not ragging on him too hard and I've got hope for the future, but he's got some growing to do. Like getting rid of the ball and not soaking up unnecessary sacks.

  3. Yeah, but you do have to give A-Rodge props for being the Packers' leading rusher on Sunday!

  4. I agree with you, WBP. Rodgers hangs onto the ball too long and he takes sacks he shouldn't. The Vikings got six sacks yesterday but I'd put about 4 of them on Rodgers. I think he's going to be fine. As for Favre -- good for him. Doesn't make any sense to be bitter. I think Troy Aikman's analysis was spot-on. Favre decided he didn't want to be a Packer any more and he forced the decision.

True, but that was after the Packers informed him that Aaron Rodgers was their guy. Obviously Brett's preference was to return to Green Bay. Now I agreed with the organization's stance in wanting to move on from the Favre era. It was just handled poorly.

Not the way I remember it -- the Packers asked Favre to make a decision in March. He dithered and dithered, then did his tearful goodbye shtick. The Packers handled one thing poorly -- they assumed that Favre was a man of his word.

Favre then tried to force his way back onto the team, as the starter. If that had happened, the Packers might have done somewhat better last year, but they wouldn't have won the Super Bowl. And they would have lost Rodgers and been without a quarterback for the future. And based on the way Favre played in the NFC Championship game, it was quite reasonable to believe that he was done.

And while Rodgers has some things to clean up, he'll be 26 next month. I'd still rather have Rodgers than Favre. I have zero complaints with Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy in re Favre. My issue with them at this point lies elsewhere -- a terrible offensive line is a big problem.

I think the Packers can go 10-6, which should get them in the playoffs. Then in the offseason, Thompson needs to go get some linemen. I'd recommend they talk to the dysfunctional Browns about Joe Thomas.
