Too good-natured?

A gun-toting would-be robber tried to hold up a convenience store in Virginia but was thwarted when an older customer went to the back of the store, got a couple of beer bottles and then went up-side the miscreant's head.

Kind of reminds me of the classic scene in the movie "Secondhand Lions" where a group of feisty young hoodlums dares to disturb Uncle Hub's lunch with their boorish behavior. After lamenting that the young-uns were acting this way because of "folks around here being too good-natured to put a stop to it," Hub (Robert Duvall) conducts an illuminating question and answer session with the ruffians and delivers one of the best speeches - and best beatings - in grumpy old man history.

Those young bravos learned an important lesson. But this is the most important lesson Uncle Hub imparted:

  1. It warms a grumpy man's heart to see that.

  2. I'm stunned this movie is not the theme movie of the Grumpy Old Men...
