Former Vice President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, are separating after 40 years of marriage.
According to an e-mailed statement obtained by The Associated Press on Tuesday, the Gores said it was "a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration."
Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider confirmed the statement came from the Gores, but declined to comment further.
So does this confirm that the elongated, passionate kiss at the 2000 Democratic National Convention was indeed a hoax?!?!

Maybe not a hoax, but most likely a swan song to a couple who (at least by outward appearances) started out right, but went horribly wrong. Remember that Al was at first pro-life, but then "changed his mind" to enter the national stage.

I will not be surprised to see some late 30's chicky coming out of the woodwork in the very near future.
