Why did the turtle cross the road?

Why, to get a turtle burger of course!

1. Make thick, ground beef patties and top with sharp cheddar cheese.

2. Weave together several strips of bacon (ala your "Bacon Explosion" recipe which everyone ought to have by now) and wrap the patty & cheese.

3. Add hotdogs as the heads, legs and tail.

4. Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and bake for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees.

A little crispy, not too crunchy...just how a turtle should be, no? Unlike regular turtles, these will go fast!

  1. I already envision it being Little Ben's favorite meal. (KingDavid)

  2. Sounds good, but there's a problem with step #4. Baked??!!

An entree like this has to be deep fried!

  3. Mrs. Bubba made this for lunch. Recommendations:

    1. Use very lean hamburger and thin sliced, well smoked bacon for this. Otherwise it will be a grease bomb.

    2. Lay out bacon in one direction, and hot dogs should go all the way through the turtle. Form hamburger over bacon and hot dogs, add cheese, and then weave more bacon on top. Otherwise it will fall apart.

Since it will fall apart easily, make sure you don't deep fry. It will be greasy enough, trust me. And delicious.
