Rain, Rain Go Away

Not looking good for our homecoming bonfire tonight.  It's been raining throughout the night, and doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon.  I heard it's suppose to rain for the next three days.

If it does happen to take a break this evening, and they decide to go ahead with the bonfire, I'm wondering how long it will take our fire department to get the wood pile to catch fire. Historically, they've been pretty inept at getting a fire started, which actually might be considered a good thing for a local fire department. (at least none of the guys appear to be talented arsonists)

In the past it's taken them about half an hour just to get the thing to light.  They'll try to light it from about three different spots, then they go have a conference by the trucks, then they try it again, then they have a conference.  They eventually get it going and it's a fun thing to watch.

  1. After the girl's volleyball game last night, which I do the scorekeeping, I saw that they did in fact get the bonfire going. Unfortunately, it was raining and I only saw about 10 people up by where they had it going. There's usually a ton of people. I didn't stick around either.
