Facebook Beatdown

Facebook person (childhood acquaintance)- Interestingly, I used that same quote [trading security for freedom] quite frequently during the long, dark Bush years. Anyone remember the Patriot Act, warrantless wiretapping, torture, rendition, fictitious reasons for going to war...?
 
Facebook friend (childhood friend)- When you have actually been to Iraq and have a young Iraqi boy come up to your convoy and in broken English say "Thank you for freedom"... and can still have no compassion... then I may listen to you mock the "fictitious reasons for going to war"... in the meantime, that young boy and his family no longer live under the oppression from a regime that you will never have any idea of the magnitude of their hate crimes, rape, and persecution.

Paraphrase: If you had ever grown up you would know what a whiny brat you are.

    That's why I try to stay out of politics on Facebook for the most part -- if I had to issue a factual beatdown on my old liberal college friends every time they said something idiotic, it would be nearly a full-time job.
