The philosophy of the political left is that the GOP has touted themselves the party of "family values" (well only Dan Quayle did, but let's not split hairs) and thus conservatives need to adhere to a higher standard. Liberals, on the other hand, can be liars, drunkards and adulterers because they don't condemn such behavior amongst their own. Therefore, they avoid the one and only sin which seems to inflame them: hypocrisy.
That's right, the answer to your question about the FCC is no, of course not, because he's a leftie.
