Word to the Wise

If Night Writer recommends a book, you should read it. I'm almost done with Lone Star Swing, a travelogue written by the Scottish author Duncan McLean recounting his adventures through Texas as he seeks out the places and people that were part of the life of the great Bob Wills. A very funny, highly entertaining book.

  1. Och, laddie, that's "Lone Star Swing"!

(I just read it again myself, and it was even better than I remembered. Plus, iTunes has recordings of many of the bands mentioned; Wills, of course, but also Milton Brown, the Light Crust Doughboys and others).

  2. It is Lone Star Swing -- I have no idea why I typed West Coast. Bizarre. I'm going to fix it.

  3. I, for one, am always getting confused about that "Lone Star Offense".
