As expected, Gino continues to lament the loss of former Bears QB Kyle Orton, who is having his most productive start to a season in his career. I guess this shouldn’t come as a huge shock because, if recent history is any indication, a few notable Bears offensive players flourish shortly after departing the Windy City.
Bernard Berrian - WR: In his first season with the Minnesota Vikings in 2008, Berrian achieved personal highs in receiving yards and touchdown receptions.
Cedric Benson - RB: Certainly no one held the Bears organization in contempt when they released the troubled Benson two years ago after a series of off-field indiscretions. But through five weeks of this season the Bengals RB was the leading rusher in the NFL (now third overall). In week five, Benson was the first black in nearly three years to rush for over 100 yards against the vaunted Baltimore Ravens defense.
Kyle Orton - QB: While leading the Denver Broncos to a 6-0 start this season, Orton has thrown for nine TDs only one interception (and that was on a “Hail Mary” attempt at the end of the first half in week five). In terms of quarterback rating, he is ranked 8th overall (ahead of the likes of Tom Brady and Kurt Warner) and is on a pace to throw for close to 4,000 yards.
All I can say is Houston’s Matt Schaub better stay healthy. That’s because ol’ Rex Grossman is waiting in the wings.

ReplyDeleteWhat's sad is I believe Rex is third on the depth chart, behind Schaub and Dan Orlovsky for crying out loud. That is the same Dan Orlovsky who, while with the Lions last season, unknowingly stepped out of the back of the end zone in a game against the Vikings.

yes, rex is third on the chart. but... i've said more than once... he sucks as a bear, but he's got the goods few have and may do very well in another system.
that, and he's used to avoiding only bear uniforms, so on another team his interceptions may be few to none.
