Obama mandates a volt in every garage; on your dime.
"you have to pass the bill to find out what's in it."
ObamaCare forces citizens to purchase a specific product, in this case health "insurance"... The penalty of breaking this law could range from a fine/tax or even possible imprisonment...
When challenged, the Liberal Fascists now say 'don't act now, just wait and see how ObamaCare unfolds'...
Because they know that once its roots take hold you will never get rid of it no matter how much it hurts our country!

What's in a name?
New school can’t be Cougars because middle-aged women might be offended
Students at a new Utah high school are facing disappointment after their choice for a new school mascot was rejected for one of the strangest reasons possible: Board members deemed it might be seen as offensive to middle-aged women.
*facepalm*

Medical technology R&D
New material could offer hope to those with no voice
Don't give up hope. Medical technology has come a long way and the best is yet to come. I've moved on from developing cardiac devices and am now on the forefront of implantables and devices for microsurgery and implantable biologics. The team led by Langer and Zeitels has now developed a polymer gel that they hope to start testing in a small clinical trial next year. The gel, which mimics key traits of human vocal cords, could help millions of people with voice disorders—not just singers such as Andrews and Steven Tyler, another patient of Zeitels'.
About 6% of the U.S. population has some kind of voice disorder, and the majority of those cases involve scarring of the vocal cords, says Sandeep Karajanagi, a former MIT researcher who developed the gel while working as a postdoc in the Langer lab. Many of those are children whose cords are scarred from intubation during surgery, while others are victims of laryngeal cancer.
Other people who could benefit are those with voices strained from overuse, such as teachers. “This would be so valuable to society, because every time a person loses their voice, say, a teacher or a politician, all of their contributions get lost to society, because they can’t communicate their ideas,” Zeitels says.

I nominate a G.O.M. for MOB Mayor!
I nominate Mr. Dilettante.
Go here to second my nomination of Mr. D.
Mr. D is a powerful blogger in the M.O.B.; he posts on quite a few sites; he is a very good sport and would make a great mayor. Let's see some support for Mr D.

OMFG!!!
The bad news is I really think I passed a &%#&@! kidney stone this morning. For a while there I didn't know if I could make it... pain enough to make ya sweat but not quite enough to make ya puke... though the thought did cross my mind... it started on the way to work and then subsided after I made the decision to leave work and try to make it home... so I went back to work.

The Obama Depression

The US workforce has shrunk by a 1m over the past two months as discouraged jobless give up the hunt.
The euro rocketed to a two-month high of $1.29 and sterling jumped two cents to almost $1.54 after the Fed confessed that the US economy may not recover for five or six years. Far from winding down emergency stimulus, the bank may need a fresh blast of bond purchases or quantitative easing. The Fed thinks this depression will last until 2016. Ouch!

Camping in the Black Hills
Here are a few photos hiking up to the top of Little Devils Tower.

Steep trail... about 6000 feet above sea level... the sign said it was a strenuous hike... I'm a grumpy old man... and I have Acrophobia...
But it was worth the effort:

I would have loved to have had more time to do the Harney Peak hike.
I highly recommend this hike or the slightly less strenuous Cathedral Spires hike.
Or a nice drive up Mount Coolidge or Iron Mountain for the non-hikers.
