What's in a name?

New school can’t be Cougars because middle-aged women might be offended

Students at a new Utah high school are facing disappointment after their choice for a new school mascot was rejected for one of the strangest reasons possible: Board members deemed it might be seen as offensive to middle-aged women.

  1. Now let's be fair here; it's not offensive to all middle aged women, but just those middle-aged women who are single and chasing men half their age. I'd have to guess that they're just about pandemic in Utah for reasons I can't quite figure out right now.

    1. Why should it be any different than men with women much younger than they are? What's good for the goose should be good for the gander

Supposedly 60 is the new 30; women are aging very differently than they used to, at least if they want to continue to look an indeterminate but younger age.

    2. It is not any different.

Even funnier is the 'Bring em Young' Cougars. (BYU)

    3. "Sauce for the goose," isn't it? :^)

What animal would a skirt-chasing old man be, then? Lizard?

    4. A reptile? I don't know which animal, but a rich animal....

  2. I think they should go with "Fighting Sioux."

  3. i think women who fit the definition of cougars are generally proud of it.

  4. Sorry, but I can't get excited about men my age.....
